Mr. Gregory Allen Jackson, Sr.’s smile will be deeply missed as he transitioned on December 3, 2021, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 50.
Greg (as he was so affectionately called) was born August 8, 1971, in Saginaw, Michigan, to parents, Dorothy Jean Bell and Freddie Mac Jackson. In 1989, he graduated from Saginaw High School. He worked at DOW Chemical for some years. He then received an employment opportunity from General Motors and became a proud member of the UAW Local 652 and then Local 598 in Flint, Michigan.
In 2018, Greg married the love of his life Janae, whom he lovingly referred to as “Chocolate”. Living in Lansing, Michigan, he attended Lansing Church of God in Christ with his wife. Greg led a full and wondrous life filled with laughter. He and Janae shared a love for travel and making their dreams a reality. He had a sincere passion for football. Greg liked the MSU Spartans, but loved the Las Vegas Raiders, “Let’s Win Baby!”.
Above all, Greg was a loving husband, father, son, nephew, and friend. He was a laid-back kind of guy with a very giving heart. His family meant everything to him, and he always tried to find the best in people. He will be truly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
Greg leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Janae Jackson of Lansing, Michigan; the apple of his eye, his son, Gregory Allen Jackson, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan; step-daughter, Jayla Rose Jones of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandson, Gerald M. Hudnell, III of Grand Rapids, Michigan; father, Freddie Mac Jackson; brothers, John Graves, Duane (Shaun) Jackson, Michael Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Ryan (Stephanie) Jackson of Kalamazoo, Michigan; mother and father-in-law, Joanne and Dozie S. Cox, Sr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law, Lerese (James) White of Portage, Michigan; special brother-in-law, Earnest Wynn of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Cleo Wynn of Dallas, Texas; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A special niece, Shanna Jones of Chandler, Arizona; special nephew, Antoine (Carmen) Dottery of Montgomery, Alabama; special note to his close cousins, Henry Kimbrough, Jr. of Bassett, Arkansas, Dartinual Tillman of Houston, Texas, and Mario Williams of Saginaw, Michigan; and one-of-a kind God-daughter Ieisha Davis of Ypsilanti, MI.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dottie Jean Bell and favorite uncle, Michael Jo Taylor.
The family would like to express special thanks to Lansing Church of God in Christ, Upper Room Church of Grand Rapids, Michigan, the members of GM-UAW Local 598, and Paradise Funeral Chapel and Arrangement Services.
