Gregory Keith Jones

November 3, 1978 — November 24, 2020

The world was blessed with a musical gift on November 3, 1978 in the form of Gregory Keith Jones. The son of Gregory Jones and Brenda Bady Brown, this bouncing baby boy would grow up to be one of God’s very own, spreading joy and the gospel through music. He played his last song on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the age of 42 years.

Gregory was a resident of Grand Blanc, Michigan. He graduated from Saginaw High School, “Class of 1997”. During his student years, he was a lead musician for the Saginaw High Soul Choir under the leadership of Demona Reed. He joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and continued to use his gift of music.

Greg received his bachelor’s degree in Project Management from ITT in 2011. He was a hard worker with multiple skills that he used in various capacities. As an astute student of math, he tutored young students who struggled in that subject. Greg was a strong man. He never let his health challenges slow him down. He loved playing the keyboard, bass, gardening, bowling, and being an encourager, especially to his mother Brenda and the love of his life, his wife Shalonda. Greg was a kind, humble man with a loving sweet spirt. He has now joined the heavenly choir and is playing Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty.

Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Juanita Bady, Vernestine Jones; uncles, Raymond Craig Jones, Donavon Jones; aunts, Janice Williams, Zealean Wilson and Yvonne Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Shalonda Griffin Jones; parents, Brenda Brown and Gregory (Cynthia) Jones; grandfather, Raymond Jones; godparents, Pastor Arthur and First Lady Lera Aikin; sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Jones and Jennifer Paige Jones; aunts, Kim Jones, Mary Ross, Yvonne Bady, Dorothy Bady, Barbara Bady, Barbara Jones, Doris Jones, and Debra Jones; uncles, Willard Jones, Joseph Bady, Raymond Bady, Carlin Wilson, and Steven Taylor; father-in-law, Gregory Hearn; mother-in-law, Barbara Griffin; brothers-in-law, Gregory Smoots and Benjamin Hearn; many cousins, dear loved ones and friends, including special friends Eddie Gaiter Jr., Alden Payne and Mark Morgan.

The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Family, the staff at Hurley Medical Center, DaVita Dialysis, and Gift of Life Michigan.
