Mr. Gregory “Big Win” Winfree passed away on April 22, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 51 years. He was born on August 31, 1969, in Illinois to parents, Pamela Winfree and Bruce White.
Gregory graduated in 1988, from Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois. He immediately went onto Barber College. In 1995, he met and married, LaCricia Freeman; soon they moved to Michigan to raise their family. Gregory was a family man, he spent every Saturday morning at Gardner School, watching his boys play football and his daughter cheer. He was a hockey, soccer, track, volleyball, and basketball dad. Everything his children did, he was there. Big Win’s true loves are his children and cooking. His catchphrase, “Eat with me”, is known throughout Lansing.
He leaves to cherish his daughter, Almond Joi Winfree – his worm; sons, Ronnie (Courtney) Mitchell – his Mannie, and Gregory (Brooke) Winfree – his Boobie; his grandchildren, his most prized possessions who lovingly called him PawPaw, Jalen, Justin, Ja’Den, Josiah, Jrake, Joi, Nairobi, and a new surprise on way; mother, Pamela Winfree; three sisters, Kamesha Thompkins, Tamara (Clarence) Jones, and Krystal White; one brother, Kevin Winfree; nine nieces, A’chante, Lauren, Jailynne, Katalba, Keyva, Mya, Karra, Imani, and Stephanie; nine nephews, Frank, Devonte, Tevin, Tyron, A’marri, Kevin, Miguel, James, and Jace; brother-in-law, Clarence Jones; many other relatives and friends, including best friend Brian Foy, and godsons, LeAndre Wright and Kahari Foy.
Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Bruce White; grandparents, James and Doris Ferguson and Frank and Louise Winfree; brother, Frank Winfree; bonus parents, Willie and Geraldine Foy.
