Grover Freeman

January 22, 1938 — August 16, 2015

Mr. Grover Leonard Freeman began his journey in life on January 22, 1938 in Owosso, Michigan, the son of George Grover and Goldia (Brown) Freeman. While surrounded by his loving family, God whispered to him, Come to me. He gained his eternal wings and entered the kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the age of 77 years.
Grover was a 1956 graduate of Owosso High School. He was employed with Delphi Automotive and was a member of UAW Local 699. Grover retired after 18 years of service. He was also employed with the Ann Arbor Railroad for 26 years. Grover served his country with the United States Army National Guard in Owosso, Michigan for several years. On August 14, 2004 he joined Lorna Merrill in holy matrimony. She survives him. Grover was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church under the leadership of Pastor William Hessler. He loved hunting and fishing and was a proud member of the North American Hunting Club. Grover was an avid sports fan who loved football and the Detroit Tigers. He loved family gatherings where eating was one of his favorite things to do. He greatly enjoyed the wild game dinners at the church where he would spend quality time with his sons and grandsons. Grover was a great man whose wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to celebrate his legacy his devoted wife, Lorna Freeman; five sons, Michael (Susan) Freeman, Steven (Lillie) Freeman, Brian (Kari) Freeman, Kevin (Ginny) Freeman and Jason (Jennifer) Freeman; five step-children, Reginald (Lisa) Carroll, Robin (Tom) Byers, Richard (Lisa) Morlik, Jessica Spann and Dennis Obermiller; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Grover was preceded in death by two sons, James and Jeffery Freeman, parents, George and Goldia Freeman, step-daughter, Angelena Carroll, grand-daughter, Debra Phillips and three siblings, Elenora, Ronald and Marion.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the caregivers of Advacare Hospice: Marina, Karen and Jenny, the Jackson family and his very special friend and neighbor, Marissa for always coming over to check on him and hold his hand when needed. Your acts of kindness and compassion will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
