Mr. Grover Dezi Phillips, of Saginaw, Michigan, was born on September 28, 1963 in Beulah, MS to Obediah Green and Annie Phillips. Grover departed this life on November 15, 2009. Age 46 years.
Grover confessed Christ at an early age. He was a 1981 graduate of Saginaw High School and was a member of the Saginaw High School Soul Choir. The Soul Choir was only the beginning for Grovers love and interest in music, in 1989, writer, composer and performer Dezi Phillipss musical talent was introduced to the world on Video Soul with his hit single I Didnt Do It off of his Freshman Album titled I Didnt Do It. His love for music also opened the door for collaboration with artist such as Prince and Jermaine Jackson, he was also the nephew of the late great blues singer Jimmy Reed.
Grover leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Grover Tremaine Phillips of Kansas City, KS, Quinten D. Phillips of St. Louis, MO and Dakota Phillips of Traverse City, MI; three sisters, Virginia (Roy) Carroll and Charles Ann Phillips (Doll) both of Saginaw, MI and Tammy Lucas of Cleveland, MS; five brothers, James (Florida) Phillips and Eugene (Mersheal) Phillips both of Saginaw, MI, Willliams (Demruse) Phillips of Columbus, OH, Earl (Ona) Phillips and Edgar Williams both of Rosedale, MS; two granddaughters; two grandsons and many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends including his fiance Cheryl Allman, a special cousin, Boston Reed of Saginaw, MI; the mothers of his children, Wuanita Phillips Baker of St. Louis, MO and Wendy Phillips of Traverse City, MI.
Grover was predeceased in death by his father, Obediah Green, his mother, Annie Phillips and brother, Joseph Phillips.
