Mrs. Guadalupe Santiago was born January 9, 1932 in Brownsville, Texas, the daughter of Jose Vega and Ignacia Ramirez. She gained her wings on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the blessed age of 87 years.
Guadalupe lived most of her life in Florida, Georgia and Saginaw, Michigan. She grew up Catholic and enjoyed going to church at a young age. Later in her adulthood, she was baptized at Church at Melborn in 1997.
Guadalupe’s education took place at home with her uncles and her mother. She attended public school through the third grade and started working at age twelve. Her hobbies included watching tv, family feud, hosting parties at her home, dancing and cooking. She was a very funny mother who loved and cared for all her children deeply.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Vega and Ignacia Ramirez; daughter, Micaela Barrera; son, Adam Barrera; sister, Margarita Vega; brother, Daniel Vega.
She leaves precious memories with her husband, Juan Santiago; daughters, Maria Luisa Barrera, Alicia Vega, Marisela Barrera, Maria Isabel Barrera, Maria Guadalupe Barrera, Letticia Mancias; sons, Eliberto De Leon, Jose Alberto Barrera, Ambrosio Barrera, Ruben Barrera, Eduardo Barrera; 246 grand and great-grandchildren; sisters, Eloisa Rodriguez, Josefina Romo, Ignacia Ramirez; brothers, John Joe Vega, Jr., Javier C. Vega; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends Olga Ruiz, Anacone, godmother, Ana Rosa and second godmother, Hilda.
The family would like to express special thanks to everyone who helped our mother til the day God called her home to be with Him. Like she would say, “I love you all and God is going to bless you!”
