Ms. Harriet Ann Soloman departed this life on Thursday, January 16, 2011 at her residence. Age 56 years. She was born January 3, 1955 in Uniontown, Alabama to John and Hattie (Taylor) Torrence.
Harriet graduated from Saginaw High school in 1973. She attended Ross Medical Center, Wastenaw Community College and Mary Grove College in Detroit, MI. Harriet confessed Christ at an early age at Canaan P.B. Church in Uniontown, AL under the pastorate of Pastor J.T. Alexander. She lived a life believing in the power of God. Having lived in Detroit for many years, she was formally a member of Elim Baptist Church prior to moving back to Saginaw. Harriet later joined New Life Baptist Church Ministries where she served on the nurses guild. She was a very devoted, daughter, mother and grandmother, and was affectionately called Pooh by her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Tocoya (Tavares) Washington, Birmingham, AL; one son, Queontae Boggs, Detroit, MI; grandchildren, Damico Juan Brown, Narei Brown, Tavariyah Washington, Jaylen Sears; mother, Hattie (Madea) Torrence; three sisters, Sara Woodford, Ollie (Albert) Roach, Jeanette (Leroy) Virgies; two brothers, John (Viola) Torrence, Oliver (Diane) Torrence; five aunts, Katie Robinson, Adelaide Thomas, Liza Houston, Maggie Crums, Johnnie Mae Crawford; godmother, Mary Johnson; godson, Sherrod (Rocky) Craig; godbrother; Pastor James Hodge; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including devoted cousins, Nora Perkins, Shirley Cage; close friends, Addie, Jackie Spearman, Mary Welch, Jimmy Harris, Charles Law, Gloria Bibbs. The family would like to express a special thanks to Erwin Senior Estates, Covenant Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Nurse Alice.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Torrence Sr. and brother-in-law, William Woodford.
