Hattie Meadows

December 14, 1916 — September 9, 2014

Our Lord and Savior, has again kept his promise. On the evening of September 9, 2014, Hattie Alice Meadows was carried home to be comforted in the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior. Hattie was born on December 14, 1916 in Kansas City, Kansas to Jerry Barnes and Esther Foster. She was the second eldest of ten children. She enjoyed her childhood in Kansas City and the start of her adult life and marriage of fourteen years to John Powell Morgan. Through their union came three children (John Powell Jr, Jacqueline V. and Richard Morgan. She later married the late Elder William Meadows on March 27, 1965. Hattie leaves behind many who will cherish the memory of her life. They include son, John Powell Morgan; sister, Geraldine Anderson; brothers, Robert and Sterling Hill; four grandchildren and fourteen great- grandchildren. Others not mentioned are dearly loved, appreciated, and not forgotten Hattie was a great missionary and pastors wife. She dutifully served the Lord throughout the years in various capacities in the Church of God in Christ. She and Elder Meadows started The Old Path Church of God in Christ in Kansas City, Missouri. Hattie became a devoted Christian at the age of seventeen. She was a member of Martin Temple Church of God in Christ in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended many Michigan area churches, while living in Saginaw, Michigan with her sister, Geraldine. When asked about her favorite scriptures, Hattie quoted the following: Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing, In everything give thanks, and for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thes. 5:16-18) Hattie was predeceased by her parents, Jerry Barnes and Esther Foster; first husband, John Powell Morgan Sr; second husband, Elder William Meadows; son, Richard Alonzo Morgan; daughter, Jacqueline Coleman; brothers, Carl, Calvin and Leon Hill; sisters, Delores Hill, Velma Jones, and Barbara Brown. Her gift was living and walking by the fruits of the Spirit. (Gal.5:22-23).
