Hazel Perry Burden

Mrs. Hazel P. Burden was born December 9, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Lucy Perry. She graduated from Saginaw High School and Saginaw Business Institute. She was a member of Bethel AME Church and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. Hazel married Robert Burden and that union produced one child, Lucy. Robert preceded Hazel in death in 1991.

Hazel had a collection of dolls that stared in the 1960’s with Barbies and copies were given to her daughter. She loved to sew, and she loved her pet dogs and birds. They were her life. Mom had many pets throughout her life. When she was a kid, she had Prince and Lance. Later on she acquired dogs, Queenie and Kaiser. While she was married, she bought birds Corky, Dolly, Tommie and Cleopatra, whom she called her daughters.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burden; mother, Lucy Perry Ware; sisters, Wilamae Williams and Dorthey; brothers, Claude Ware, Lesley Perry, Lee Ware, and George Perry; niece, Candice Johnson; cousin, Frankie Bee Minor.

Hazel leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Lucy A. Burden; one brother, Ronny Perry; nieces, Melody, Cathy Ware, Cathy Burden, Trudy Ware, Claudia Ware, Deby Johnson, Little Podgo; nephew, Mark Burden.
