Helen Phillips

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Helen Anderson Phillips departed this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at her residence. Age 65 years. She was born May 23, 1948 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Lillie Anderson and Arthur Wright.
Helen accepted Christ at an early age at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in James Mills, Arkansas. In 1965 she was united in holy matrimony with Joe Lee Phillips Sr. He preceded her in death. After relocating to Saginaw, Michigan in 1968, she became a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist. She remained a faithful member there under the leadership of Dr. Willie Hill where she sang in the choir. Helen loved spending time with her family and friends. She took special care of her husband Joe, her children and grandchildren. Helen enjoyed watching all her favorite TV shows. Gone but never forgotten, her presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen leaves to cherish her precious memory four children, Joe Lee Phillips Jr., Bernice Phillips, Eric Phillips and Jammy Phillips; one step-daughter, Misty (Robert) Jones; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Maebelle Gaines, Patricia Wilson, Charlie Mae Anderson, Gloraine Wright, Anita Wright, Mary Jo Wright, Carolyn Wright and Johnnie Mae Wright; ten brothers, Jamie Wright, Rodney Wright, Floyd Wright, Clayton Wright, James Jackson, Willie Wright, John Lee Wright, Bossie Anderson and Joe Mobbley; her mother, Lillie Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Mary Allen and Sue Billings; one brother-in-law, Gene Billings; two god-sons, Lacy Oliver and Willie Dawson; many other relatives and friends including her special friends, Margaret Stuckett and Karen Perkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Phillips Sr., father, Arthur Wright, grandmother, Lillie Bell Chalmers, five brothers, Ernest Williams, Willie Anderson, Johnnie Anderson, James Chalmers and Arthur Wright Jr.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Covenant Healthcare for the special care given to our loved one and to everyone who offered kind words, condolences and prayers.
