Helene Strozier (Lansing)

Ms. Helene “Pookie” Rhodes Strozier passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 73 years. She was born November 11, 1945 to Mansfield Ace Holden and Edythe Marie “J” Rhodes in Toledo, Ohio.

Helene lived in Lansing, Michigan. She also resided in Toledo, Ohio and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Helene had not been affiliated to any particular church but her faith in God was strong and resilient.

Helene attended Gunckel and Robinson Junior High in Toledo, Ohio. She worked for General Motors, US Postal Service and Target.

To know Helene is to love her, no matter who it was, she was a friend and a “Mom” to many. Helene was beautiful inside and out. She attracted many with her kind soul and infectious smile. Helene “Pookie” Strozier, you will be missed by many and loved by all. Until we meet again, kiss and hug everyone waiting at the gate for you!

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Denise Sanders Fuller and Angel C. Sanders High; 4 stepchildren, LaCarvus, Venus, Carmen and Shareen Strozier; grandchildren, Shauntel R. Quinn Stephens, Cameron J. Quinn, Montrai J. Lenoir and Adrianna T. High; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Zionna, Hadassah and Jonathan Stephens, Jourdón and Journey Lenoir; brother, Cloverfield Holden; many nieces and nephews from the families of the Holdens, Brazzels, Harmons, Robinsons, Watkins, Dickersons, Sawyers, Van Alstines and Sanders; aunt, Lou Swindall, too many cousins to count who were truly a blessing; sister-in-law, Joyce Robinson, who she considered her special sister; brothers-in-law, Larry Palmer, Arthur “Butch” Sanders, Lee (Karen) Sanders and Delbert Van Alstine; many other relatives and friends including special friend, Ann Almy and special sister, Linda Swindall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Holden; and daughter, Michelle “Mickey” Sanders.
