Henrietta Monroe-Gilmore

December 24, 1980 — November 12, 2019

Hi family and friends, it’s me, Henrietta Natasha Monroe-Gilmore, better known as Retta. Don’t cry for me and don’t be acting slow because you all know I’m at peace and I have made it to heaven. I was welcomed by my grandparents, Gilbert and Mary Monroe; my mother, Alice Verdean Monroe; aunts, Michele Monroe, Ethel Sutton; uncles, Eddie and Gilbert Monroe.

I was born December 24, 1980 to an amazing mother, Alice Monroe and father, Larry Williams, both of Saginaw, Michigan. I attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1999. I went on to earn my Associates Degree from Delta College and also my bachelor’s degree From Ashford University in 2012. I moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where I faithfully attended Harvest Word of Life Ministries under Bishop Malcolm and Pastor Jackie Howell. I was a dedicated worker at Aetna Life Insurance for five years. I loved spending time with my family and fell in love with the casino, thanks to my Godmama.

I know my sudden passing was a shock to everyone and I wish I could have stayed with you all forever but my mission was complete and the Father told me it was time to come home. I know you all will miss me dearly but when you do, think of the good times and know I’ll be watching over all of you.

I will forever miss my one and only daughter, Keveyonnie Amos “Kay”; my husband, Dauwyn Gilmore II; all four of my sisters, Khadijah Harris, Tamika Mitchell, both of Saginaw Michigan, Khatedrah Harris, Alicia Jackson, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; my two brothers, Marsellus (Nicole) Harris, Saginaw, Michigan, Arcenio Haynes, Fort Wayne, Indiana; my mother and father-in-law, Edith Jones and Dauwyn Gilmore Sr.; and I can’t forget all of my nieces and nephews whom I loved like my own children.

To my best friend, my daughter Kay, I am sorry I left you at this important time in your life but I’m not sorry for the young lady I have raised you to be. You are so special and gifted and I know you will continue to make me proud in everything you do. When times get hard just remember I’m still with you and you can turn to your family in your time of need. I am certain you will exceed expectations that I have for you. I love you so much my yellow baby.

Sorry guys but its time for me to go. Mommy is calling. Remember just because you don’t see me doesn’t mean I’m not here. Just because I’m in heaven does not mean I don’t care. Just look to the sky and wipe your teary eyes and know I’m watching over you.
