Henry Thomas Hunter

Mr. Henry Thomas Hunter, 78, born July 17, 1944, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, to Mr. Henry Hubbard Thomas and Ms. Emma Jean Hunter, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, in Saginaw, Michigan.

Henry loved Michigan and he had a good life. We’ve called him Son, Big Brother, Husband, Uncle, Big Red, Hank, Friend, Henry, and his wife (Pearlie) affectionately called him, “my Baby.” Henry was such a bright light in our lives. He could win you over immediately with that gregarious laugh and great sense of humor.

Henry and Pearlie were married on June 26, 1961, and have been lovingly married for 61 years! He retired from the City of Saginaw as Fleet Manager. Henry enjoyed fishing, boating, driving, traveling, and spending time with his family. Henry was loved and cherished by all he met.

Surviving, besides his wife Pearlie, are four adult children: Cheryl (Kevin) Bohlen, Dolores Uwaezuoke, Vincent (Sandra) Hunter, and Debbie Hunter; 13 grandchildren, Holly, David, Samara, Thomas, Mark, Earl, Prince, Corey, Tykeshia, Andre, Dominique, William, Loren, and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally Thomas and Rose (Nathaniel) Burney; two brothers, Tommy (Renee) Thomas and Billy Joe Thomas; many relatives and friends, especially Robert Calhoun, Derrick Byrd, Charles (Rowena) Stiggers, Henry Lee Franklin; and special friends, Lewis Cooper, Jimmie Williams, Mary Carr, Fred and Rochelle Gilmer, and so, so many more.

Henry was predeceased by his brother, Zelma Thomas, and sisters, Ruby Lee Wright, Ida Jean Henderson, and Mary Ellen Reed.
