Herbert Stapleton was born March 20, 1920 in Warrenton, Georgia, the last child of nine born to Ed and Martha (Hall) Stapleton. He passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the blessed age of 99 years.
Herbert was one of the last few living World War II veterans drafted in 1940. After his time in the military, he worked as a construction worker, mechanic, and truck driver for Saginaw Asphalt – Lois Kay well into his 80s.
An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved teaching his boys to hunt, fish and work on cars. He believed hunting taught patience, persistence, discipline and safety. More than anything, Herbert just enjoyed being outdoors with his boys and spending quality time with them.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Stapleton; sons, Roger and Ronald Lee Stapleton.
He leaves a lifetime of memories with his sons, Roland, Ronald and Randy Stapleton; grandchildren, Rosalinda Calloway, Latoya Ferguson, Marcus Vetengle, Randy Jr., Antonio, Cedric, Tavon Stapleton; four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends, including special friends Chuck Gaiser, Mike Rigda, Mark Eimers, Cricket, and close friends, Minnie Bufford and family.
