Hilda Aikens (Lansing)

August 26, 1946 — November 21, 2018

Mrs. Hilda Irene Aikens, age 72, was born August 26, 1946 in Reed City, Michigan. She entered heaven’s gates on November 21, 2018 at her residence in Lansing, Michigan.

Sweet Angel Hilda attended Ravenna High School, in Ravenna, Michigan where she met and fell in love with not only her high school sweetheart, but the love of her life, Roy Lee Aikens. They were married on a beautiful day in June of 1965. They built their lives together and had three children, Anthony Lee Aikens, Tamela Renee Aikens, and Tracy Michele Aikens.

Hilda never met a stranger. She lit up any room she was in, and left life-long impacts on those whom she knew and loved. When her children were in high school, her house was the ‘neighborhood’ house. It is well known by many, that she was more popular among Everett High School students than her children. It warmed her heart to spend time with her family and friends. She loved going to Bingo, playing Candy Crush, and mastering any game of cards anyone dared to challenge her in. She cherished her life-long friendships and the love and loyalty she received from each of them.

For the past decade or so, she selflessly, meticulously, and devotedly planned the family’s annual July Fourth celebration and reunion at Hawk Island in Lansing. She was attentive to every detail, from the utensils, to the food, to the Bingo game supplies, to the Bingo game prizes. It warmed her heart to spend quality time with her family and her loved ones. She loved seeing people happy. She will forever remain our ambassador to family, friends, and an overwhelming sense of love. Hilda was the most happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved, admired, and adored. She was very proud of each one of them, and she made it her life’s mission to ensure their happiness and well-being. She loved being GRANDMA.

In 1999, Hilda retired from the State of Michigan where she thrived and worked for nearly over 25 years. She was beloved by all who knew her. For the past nearly twenty years, many of the people with whom she worked never lost contact with her and visited and phoned her often. She was a beautiful, trusting, loving, caring and giving soul. Her generosity and kindness knew no bounds. Her infectious laugh, her sense of humor, and her sharp wit captured everyone’s heart and imagination.

There will never be another like her.

Hilda leaves to celebrate her memory and beautiful presence in this world her three children, Anthony (Tonya), Tamela, and Tracy; her beloved grandchildren, Jourdyn, Justyn, Jailyn, Jaibryn, Jaisyn, Jazmyn, and Alexa; precious great-granddaughter, Cari; sister Sally Thompson; grand-Goddaughters, Kiera and Taylor; great-Godchildren, Desmond and Khir; life-long friend and brother, Michael Lynn; her adoring nieces and nephews; faithful sister-friends, and the many others who loved and cherished her and were dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Abner Williams and Lucile Green; two sisters, Genevieve Perry and Gloria De Candia.
