Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Icey was born April 20,1934 in Kosciusko MS., to the late Harriet and Nelson Saniford. Icey married Tommy Lee Smith. He predeceased her on June 4, 1980. Icey retired from Saginaw General Hospital were she worked for more than 20 years.
Icey leaves to cherish her memory is her daughter, Tonya Smith; grandchildren, Serel Bracey, Anisa and Laila Smith; two stepgrandsons, Marian and Jake Peoples; three sisters, Luvenia Mann, Dayton,OH; Quillie Stewart and Lessel Mallett Kosciusko; one brother Bennie Stewart, New Jersey; a devoted sister-in-law Isabella Saniford and a host of nieces and nephews. Icey had a passion for crafts and spent many hours sharing her talents with her special friends; Minnie Hope, Marjorie Sanders and Rosemary Sanders. Icey was a member of the First Ward Old Timers Club and the Buena Vista Quilting Club. Icey was predeceased in death by her sisters, Annie and Lois Gladney; brothers, John Stewart, Otho and Claudie Saniford.
