Mrs. Ida Mae Marlow Rivers passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare-Harrison. Age 76 years. She was born May 29, 1937 in Union Springs, Alabama to Theodore and Hattie Marlow.
Ida accepted Christ at a young age. She was a member of Haynes Chapel Baptist Church in Union Springs, Alabama where she was a Sunday school teacher. After relocating to Saginaw, Michigan she became a faithful member and of Renaissance Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Nathaniel Calhoun where was a member of the Mother Board. In August 1965, she joined Nathaniel Rivers Sr. in holy matrimony. He survives her. Ida was a friendly woman who loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them. Her favorite pastimes were puzzles, playing cards and cooking for her loved ones. Her family and friends will surely miss her smile.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Bertha (Henry) Baker of Union Springs, Alabama, Annie Rivers (Duane VanLanHam) of Saginaw, Michigan; five sons, Alvin, Otis, Nathan, Nelson and Nathaniel Rivers Jr., all of Saginaw, Michigan; one step-daughter, Melissa Baker; god children, Howard Grant, Michele McKinley, Jasmine Brown and Alesha Gomez; grandchildren, Desmond, Alexander, Neeshon, Shanna, Dexter, Henry, TaeJon, Noslen, Niyell, Destiny, Nathan Jr. Santino, Jessica, Brandon and Dominic; great-grandchildren, DeShon, Desmeanna, Latrerrel, LeAsia, Jerimiah, Jayvon, Zoey and James; one sister, Minnie Marlow of Union Springs, Alabama; two brothers, Willie L. (Diane) Marlow of Montgomery, Alabama and Solomon (Lillie) Marlow of Union Springs, Alabama; many nieces, nephews and cousins including special niece, Mattie Marlow of Saginaw, Michigan and special cousin, Mattie Morgan of Union Springs, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Algretha Prichett of Saginaw, Michigan and Dorothy Banks of Tuskegee, Alabama; three brothers-in-law, Robert Rivers, Fred (Lula) Rivers, Dr. Reverend James H. Gochett; many other relatives and friends including a special friends, Diane Marlow and Mary Parham.
Ida was preceded in death by family members Felix Marlow, Willie Bell Marlow, Ruther Johnson, Eddie James Marlow, Minnie Ivey, Freddie Mae and Theodis Penn, James Rivers, Charles Rivers, Princess Hendria Mae and close friend, Mary Smith.
