Iola Tate

November 11, 1941 — July 25, 2009

TATE, Mrs. Iola (Simmons). Saginaw, Michigan. Our beloved angel was called home to be with our Savior on July 25, 2009, age 67. Mrs. Tate was born on November 11, 1941 to the late Leola and Charles Simmons in Union Springs, Alabama. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Saginaw, Michigan. She retired from General Motors after 30 years and was a member of UAW Local 467. Mrs. Tate enjoyed spending time with her daughter and grandchildren and going to the casino with her dearest and best friend, Esther Steward (Sadie) of Saginaw, MI.
She leaves to cherish her memory her dear husband of 22 years, Jerry Tate, Jr. of Saginaw; one daughter, Felecia Broaden and son Sterling Broaden both of Saginaw; stepchildren, Minister Doris Ann (John) Murry, Charles (Edith) Tate, Jerry Tate, Larry Tate all of Saginaw, Cassandra (Reginald) Bolden of Hillsboro, Alabama. Iola leaves her beautiful grandchildren LaTeria and Teruo Gibson of Saginaw, MI and Starletta Broaden of Flint, MI; dear and loving sisters and brothers: Rosemary Burch Garrett, Eva Poindexter, Ruby Weems, Olavene (Jesse) Johnson all of Saginaw, Dorothy (Mose) Carter of Montgomery, AL, Emma Watkin of Los Angeles, CA, Clifford (Harriet) Simmons of Baltimore, MD, Robert (Alice) Simmons of Mobile, AL, Jimmy (Ruby) Simmons of Philadelphia, PA, Henry and Edlenton Cameron of Cleveland, OH; a brother-in-law and dear friend Abdul (Marie) Rashada of Saginaw. Iola leaves a host of nieces and nephews including a special nephew Tommie Youngblood of Union Springs, AL. Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Broaden, three sisters Elizabeth and Annie Simmons, Minnie Cameron and four brothers James, R. B. and Edmond Simmons and Roosevelt Cameron and a special brother-in-law Bruce Poindexter. The family would like to express a special thanks to a dear friend and Iolas caregiver Charlene Dyson. We also want to give a special thanks to American Hospice and Heartland Hospice of Saginaw. A sincere thanks to Chaplain Doug Bassett of Heartland Hospice during the time of the familys needs.
