Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Irene Branch went home to be with her heavenly father on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Healthsource Saginaw. Age 87 years. She was born October 25, 1925 in Utica, Mississippi the 7th child born to Paul and Otelia Cooper.
Mrs. Branch was a faithful member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years where she served faithfully until her health failed her. Mrs. Branch was an active member of the nurses guild for over 30 years and served throughout her church. She retired from the Buena Vista School District after many years of faithful service. Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Claudia-Irene (Reverend Alfonso) Abner, Shirley Bibbs; one son, Joe (Maureen) Johnson; her grandchildren, Patrina (Otis) Gregory, Ypsilanti, Michigan, Tanara Abner, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Taliah Johnson, Houston, Texas, Chad Bibbs, Louisville, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Markeia Charles and Jayon Gregory, both of Ypsilanti, Michigan; two sisters, Mary Lee Howard and Elnora Carson, both of Muskegon Heights, Michigan; several nieces, nephews and cousins; one sister-in-law, Annie Mae Cooper, Jackson, Mississippi; one brother-in-law, Reverend Will Branch, Saginaw, Michigan; many other relatives and friends including her many god-children.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, James Branch, sisters, Janie Jackson, Rosie Carson, Mamie Turner, Mary Ross, brothers, Andrew and Joe Cooper, one cousin, Ernestine Jackson.
