Ms. Izealia Mae Thompson passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the age of 86 years. She was born on April 16, 1935, and was the daughter of Ila Williams, Sr. and Hildry Williams in Woodson, Arkansas.
Izealia came to Lansing, Michigan at a very young age. She met and married Charlie James Thompson on October 23, 1954, and to this union they raised seven children.
Izealia attended and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School. She further pursued her education at Lansing Community College and fulfilled her dream of service and healing by earning a nursing degree. Izealia's passion was seniors, so after earning her nursing degree, she went on to care for the elderly at long term healthcare facilities in the surrounding area. She retired from caregiving in the early 2000's, but did not desire to be idle, so she eventually took a position at Rite Aid Pharmacy. Working for another 10 years, she stayed true to her purpose of supporting the health industry and her family.
Izealia loved working in the field of nursing. It gave her great purpose, however, she also loved raising her children. She set an example of a positive work ethic and a mother who loved family. Izealia loved reading when she was not spending time with family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. To know her was to love her and she will be deeply missed.
Izealia “Doll” Thompson leaves to cherish the memory of her beautiful life legacy, her children, Lorraine Kathleen Williams-Courent, Charles James Thompson, Jr., Raymond Lee (Gail) Thompson, Nathan Jerome Thompson, Lisa Ann Thompson-Phifer, and Julia Lynette Thompson; grandchildren, Tamara Thompson, Calvin Carter, Jr., Kevin Carter, Constance Phifer, Jay Phifer, Jr., D’Amrique Justice, Desiree Simmons, Tyroshia Thompson, Nathan Thompson, Jr., Olivia Thompson, Dominique Warren, Charley Warren, Vanessa (Curtis) McDaniel, Garrison Thompson, Kejuan Thompson, and Shadia Thompson; 35 great- grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; loving sisters, Laurese “Sugar” Townsend and Hildry “Marie” Williams; aunt, Mercie Mae Pennington; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends including special daughter, Damita Jo Walker.
