Jack Thorne, Jr.

Mr. Jack Thorne, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2019 after a brief illness. He was 61 years of age.

Jack was born December 1, 1957 to Jack Sr. and Ora Lee Thorne. He was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, graduating from Saginaw High School, “Class of 1976.” New Birth Baptist Cathedral was his church home and he was a faithful member for many years. Throughout his life, Jack was employed by several companies and was a faithful bell ringer for the Salvation Army.

A self-proclaimed chef, Jack loved cooking. Not only did he love cooking, but he loved eating as well, even if he had to eat alone. He always said his culinary skills were second to none. Jack was a joy to be around and he will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sr. and Ora Lee Thorne; brother, Lee Otis Yancy.

He leaves precious memories with his lifelong companion, Beverly Shivers; three sons, Shavell Shivers, Jasper (Heidiann) Shivers, Javon Thorne; three grandchildren; brother, Robert C. Yancy; sisters, Patricia Thorne Johnson, Gloria (Al) Napier, Dottie Jarvis; godbrother, Olandus Santos; godsister, Frances Zachary; special niece, Lucretia Hodges; aunts, Edith Brooks, Rosetta Coleman, Rose Thorne; uncle, Nathaniel Brooks; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friend Larry Porter and his 14th Street Family.
