Jacqueline J. Jones (Lansing)

November 11, 1956 — September 24, 2021

Ms. Jacqueline J. Jones passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, at Sparrow Health Systems-Sparrow Campus in Lansing, Michigan. Age 64 years. The daughter of Evangelist Annie Cora Jones born November 11, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan.

Jacqueline was a long-time resident of Lansing, Michigan. She was a member of Lansing Christian Center Church under the leadership of Pastor Howard Davenport. Jacqueline was a loving homemaker, who loved taking care of her family. She was a member of the Jones Family Choir – The Traveling Stars, led by her mother and a beloved grandmother, Evangelist Annie Cora Jones who wrote all the songs that they performed in churches throughout the greater Lansing area. The choir consisted of the five sisters, and Jacqueline’s role was the voice of the soprano and characterized by her impressive high notes. She displayed a sweet but earthy ability to carry the melodies of each song, hit the high register of her voice, and still have control over it. For over three decades, The Traveling Stars shared their incredible voices to uplift, inspire, and remind us of all the beauty of song and the profound ways that music connects us. We will always remember the most illuminating smile on Jackie’s face is when she was singing.

Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory her spouse, Robert Earl Hall; 2 daughters, Afrisia Caronia Jones and Angela Marie Townsend-Jones; 2 sons, Andre Lemont Jones and Alonzo Danielle Jones; 7 grandchildren, Celicia Mariz Martinez, Johnathon Jerel Williams, Ja’len Sorrells, My’Onna Jones; Elijah Jones, Braylen Jones, and Michael Jones; great-grandchild, Johnathon Jerel Williams, Jr.; brother, Carlisle Hudson; 3 sisters-in-law, Gloria G. Hall, Josephine Hall, and Fannie Hall; brother-in-law, Johnnie Hall; 13 nieces, 5 nephews, many other relatives and friends including special friends Enon’e McCray, Oronde Stokes and LaKesha Rhymes.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evangelist Annie Cora Jones; 4 sisters, Baby Grace Pendleton, Mary Ann Bowers, Daisy Williams, and Kathryn Lee Allen; 2 brothers, Willie Lee Mitchell, and Gary Hudson; and mother-in-law, Cora Lee Hall.
