On Sunday, April 12, 2015 Mrs. Jacquelyn Thrash peacefully transitioned into eternal rest at the University of Michigan Health Center. Age 67 years. She was born November 14, 1947 in McComb, Mississippi to David and Ernestine Thomas.
Jacquelyn was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan for 51 years. She was a member and evangelist of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Paul E. Broaddus. Jacquelyn held a Masters degree in Early Childhood Development from Saginaw Valley State University. She was employed for 35 years as a 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teacher with the Saginaw Public Schools. She was a community activist who served on the Saginaw Community Mental Health Board and was a member of the Silhouette Auxiliary of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Jacquelyn was an author of 12 published novels and was an accomplished painter. She was a wonderful God-fearing woman whose presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Robert W. Thrash; two daughters, Kimberley Danielle Thrash and Brandi Deann Thrash; grandchildren, Daniel Owen Phipps and Aaron Michael Phipps; three sisters, Clara Springfield, Mary Buchanan and Patricia Mahone; two brothers, Jimmy and Jeffrey Thomas; seven nieces, Tia Locke, Ebony Buchanan, Nannette Perry, Claudette Buchanan, Kathy Welch, Lynn Singleton and Tanya Smith; four nephews, David, Tony, Mark and Toris Thomas; many great- nieces and great-nephews; numerous cousins; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Pryor and Agatha Smith; two brothers-in-law, Maurice and Douglas Thrash; many other relatives and friends including her special friends, Rose Cecil, Calvin and Delores Williams, Al and Brenda Vinson, Mary Washington, Mary Harvey, Lillian Thomas, Vivian Barnes, many former students, colleagues and church families.
Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ernestine Thomas, one daughter, Mona Pryor, one son, Robert Wendell Thrash, two sisters, Willie Enette McNulty and Shirley Thomas, one brother, Hilry Thomas.
The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Paul E. Broaddus, the Truevine Missionary Baptist Church family, the Thomas, Buchanan, Welch, Williams, Thrash, Washington and Vinson families for their assistance during our time of bereavement.
