James Boykins, Jr.

Mr. James Boykins, Jr. was born September 25, 1955 in Altheimer, Arkansas. He was called home on Monday, September 14, 2020 at the age of 64 years.

James was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1973. He graduated with honors and as a member of the National Honor Society with a GPA of 3.5 He continued his education at Delta College for two years prior to starting employment with General Motors.

James’ hobbies included dancing, bowling, cars and playing dominoes. He was great with words and had a smile to brighten any room. One of his favorite phrases was “There are two thangs I don’t do: I don’t play and I don’t play.” His love for family was unmatched and he will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

James was preceded in death by his father, James P. Boykins, Sr.; grandmother, Ethel Harris; aunt, Dora Agnew; uncles, Robert and Jessie Harris.

He leaves to celebrate his life four children, LaTaschia (Thomas) Collins, LaKeya Jackson, Derrick (Renee) Boykins, James Boykins III, all of Saginaw, Michigan; stepdaughter, Aaricka Clay-Holliman; mother, Laura B. Boykins; grandchildren, Sharquita Winston, Kim’Nesha Nelson, Jeremiah Collins, DeQuarious Boykins, Kristaun Boykins, Kenneth Jeffries, Jr., LaKiriya Jackson, Daneya Boykins, Kayla Boykins, Olivia Boykins, Ky-Asha Moten, Edwin Singleton, Jr., Kendrick Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren, DeQuarious Boykins, Jr., Adan’E and A’Kyah Fitchett, David Head; sisters, Laura Lee Hanserd, Charlene Brooks, Pauline Boykins; seventeen nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Michael Clark; many cousins, other relatives and friends including his oldest niece Katrina Boykins who was his chore provider, special friend, Betty Jamerson and his friend who was more like a brother, Robert Gage.
