Mr. James E. Essex passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at St. Mary's of Michigan. Age 72 years. He was born October 17,1938 in Brandon, Mississippi to Jimmy and Lucille Essex.
Mr. Essex served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. He retired from Grey Iron Foundry after 46 years of service. He worshipped God and was a member of Unity of Faith Church in Flint, Michigan where he was active in the Holy Spirit Revival on Monday nights. He loved to share his knowledge with family and friends. He enjoyed working around the house and boat-riding.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Jacqueline S. Essex; one daughter, Doris Essex; three sons, Dana Essex, Tremayne Essex, Henry Templeton; six grandchildren, Nicole Essex, Phyllip Taylor, Virgil Essex, Xavier Essex, Quintin Essex, Olivia Chivis; three nieces, Linda Essex-Handy, Jimmie Lou Essex, Joeann Essex; two nephews, Larry Essex, Charles Essex; father-in-law, Sammie L. Templeton; four sisters-in-law including one special sister-in-law, Deborah K. Templeton, Ellen L. Dexter, Joslin K. Blakes, Mildred Long; three brothers-in-law, Abraham Dexter, Samuel L. Templeton, Charles Blakes; many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Essex Jr.; parents, Jimmy and Lucille Essex; grandparents, Henry and Lou Dee Easterling; mother-in-law, Dorthea M. Blakes and a special cousin, Robert Jackson.
