James E Woodson

James E. Woodson passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 85 years. He was born December 15, 1926 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Sadie Mae Whiting.
Mr. Woodson has lived in Saginaw, Michigan for most of his adult life. He left school in the 11th grade to join the United States Army. After serving his country, he worked at General Motors Grey Iron Foundry until his retirement. He was also a member of UAW Local 668. James married Christabell Howell on August 11, 1979. James was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to the South Side of Saginaw to sit and visit with old friends under the Big Tree. Whenever family came to visit, he always had a big, friendly, welcoming smile and a cheerful greeting to all. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Christabell Woodson; two daughters, Shirley Woodson, Carla Williams; three sons, Cleve Woodson, Artis T. Middleton, Jerome Woodson; four stepchildren, Geraldine (Charles) Green-Byrd, Carolyn Curry, Loretta Longuemire, Pamela (Jimmy) Brooks; grandchildren, Johnnie Green Jr. III and Christie January, both of Houston, Texas, Jason T. Green, Elmer T. Curry Jr. and Vannessa Curry, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Latrice Chandler, Wayne, Michigan, Marsha Longuemire and Christine Evans, Nashville, Tennessee, Jimmy Ray Brooks Jr., Shalonna Brooks, both of Lima, Ohio; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who truly loved Grand-dad Jim many other relatives and friends including special friend Bill Stewart.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie M. Whiting; one daughter, Carolyn Woodson; mother-in-law, Josephine Pettiford; one grand-daughter, Sheryl J. Green-Burns.
The family would like to express special thanks to St. Marys of Michigan ICU, 4th floor nurses and staff for their exceptional care of our loved one.
