James Earl Maxwell

April 12, 1952 — February 22, 2015

Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, James Earl Maxwell, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the age of 62 years. He was born April 12, 1952 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Laurence and Beatrice Maxwell.
James attended Eastside High School in Cleveland, Mississippi. He attended Job Corps in Joliet, Illinois, specializing in carpentry. James was employed at Cattlemen in Arizona for 14 years prior to becoming disabled. He loved and enjoyed his family and friends; there wasnt anything he would not do for them. He was a proud man on a journey for peace and love. James joined the Narcotics Anonymous (NA program) in order to become a better person. He was committed to the NA programs and had a desire to help others improve their standing in society. He became a motivational speaker and inspired others to achieve greatness. He helped many during his lifespan.
Continually striving to improve his status in life, James was a Moabite with the Nation of Islam for many years. As a Muslim, James was extremely dedicated to following Gods plan for his life. However, he kept an open mind when it came to other religions. He later united with the Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was baptized. James was an amazing person who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He left a tremendous mark here on earth. He will be missed in the flesh, but never forgotten.
James leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Gracie Jones, Detroit, Michigan, Jamal and Davion Maxwell, Saginaw, Michigan; two grandchildren and five stepchildren; one brother, Joseph (Star) Maxwell; many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Sonya Smith; many other relatives and friends including Jeffrey Tullos, his NA family and his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lawrence and Arthur Hunter and Ernest Maxwell, three sisters, Josie B. Hollingsworth, Margie Rosenbarr and Eddie Mae Hunter.
