James E. Johnson (Greasy) passed Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Marys of Michigan Medical Center. Age 79 years. He was born July 24, 1932 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Roland Johnson and Corine Jones.
He was a lifelong resident of Saginaw and was employed with the Buena Vista School District until his retirement. James was a member of the Elks Lodge. He loved spending time with his family and friends. James (Greasy) was known for his famous homemade rolls and chicken and dressing. His presence will be truly missed by all who knew him.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sarah Johnson; six daughters, Evelyn (Delender) Holloway, Lori Wright, Linda Harris, Brenda Brown-Doxie, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Tara Clifton, Houston, Texas; one son, Ronald Doxie; eleven grandchildren, Tontaneesha Woodside, Mac Brown Jr., Damion Brown, Ronald Christian, Delender Holloway II, Corey Wright, Crystal (Michael) Nash, Whitley Harris, Darrell (Felicia) Harris, Shatyra Clifton, Anthony Clifton; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; stepmother, Mozell Johnson, Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister, Brenda (Clarence) Watkins, Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, J.W. (Nunee) Johnson, Little Rock, Arkansas, Calvin (Eunice) Jones, San Francisco, California; one aunt, Doris Mullins, Detroit, Michigan; two special neices Debra (Medina) Mungin Anna Lee (Gary) Mann; one nephew Julius W. (Yolanda) Kirby Jr. all of Atlanta, Georgia four sisters-in-law, Donna Jones, San Francisco, California, Christine (John) Livingston, Saginaw, Michigan, Ester Mae Napier, Lima, Ohio, Hattie Doxie, Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers-in-law, Emmitte (Nancy) Doxie, William H. (Geraldine) Doxie, Saginaw, Michigan, Robert Louis (Eva) Doxie, Florence, Alabama; many other relatives and friends including a godson, James Livingston; special friends Richard (Mary) Crosby, Joseph (Virginia) Winchester
He was preceded in death by his parents, Corine Jones and Roland Johnson; one sister,Mary Katherine Kirby; one brother, Nathaniel Jones.
