Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Psalm 150:6
Mr. James Lauderdale was born on February 12, 1935 to Elnora and Ernest Lauderdale in Mason, Tennessee. On Thursday, April 28, 2016, God called his faithful servant home at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 81 years. We may not understand why, but we do know that God is a just God and cannot make mistakes.
At the early age James accepted Jesus as his personal savior. James married Margaret on December 21, 1957. To this union, five children were born. James moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1959. He united with Union Baptist Church in 1963 under the pastorate of Rev. Joel L. King. James remained a faithful member of Union, currently under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Melvin T. Jones. He sang in the gospel chorus for many years.
Mr. Lauderdale retired from General Motors after 34 years of service. In his spare time James enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and entire family. James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved to praise the Lord. Though very quiet in nature, James didnt mind worshiping the Lord. James loved watching sports, westerns, Family Feud, bowling, boating, and being an entrepreneur. He loved to dress from head to toe and was the sharpest man I know!
James leaves to cherish his precious memories his special friend, Eloise Moore; three sons, James Jr., Dwyane (Lois) of Lansing, Michigan and Lawrence Graves of Springfield, Illinois; two daughters, Brenda Lauderdale and Tonya (Larry) Lauderdale-Williams; four sisters, Katherine (Ocie) Middlebrook of Lansing, Michigan, Eslymae Parker, Brenda Adams and Maybel Thomas of Tennessee; one brother, Alfonso Wright of Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Lauderdale of Cleveland, Ohio and Shirley Nelson of Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Lauderdale was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife, one daughter, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson.
We love him, but God loves him best.
He took him to the heavenly home of eternal rest
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son
That whosoever, believeth in him shall have everlasting life. John 3:16
