Mr. James Reese Watson, our beloved husband, father, brother and uncle moved from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Saturday June 9th 2012 at Covenant Healthcare - Cooper. Age of 87 years. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. James was born April 30,1925 in Meridian, Mississippi, son of Edd Watson and Reaner Watson.
On April 29, 1948, he was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Mary L. Burns who he called "Mama", together they were blessed to have raised seven lovely children.
James served in WWII in the Army, he was formerly employed by GM Grey Iron foundry and a member of Local 668. He was a faithful and committed member of Developing Victorious Disciples In Ministry where his son was his Pastor, Senior Watson is what he was called at church by many, and he loved to sing "Bass" with the Voices of Praise Mass choir. He loved to fish, work and provide for his family. Early on he loved to drive to Chicago, IL often to visit family. He also liked music, going to the parks having picnics and loved his wife cooking especially her beans. His favorite saying was "Walk like a solider- I do, Listen to me real good and close".
James leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories, his wife of 64 years, Mary Lee Watson; his children, James (Mary) Watson, Vera (Edward) Jones, Demiestro (Debbie) Watson, Tina McMillon, Theodore (Charity) Watson, Ben Watson, and Cecil (Elease) Watson all of Saginaw, MI; one sister, Lillie Mae Gill of Los Angeles, California; six sisters-in-law, Ida Caldwell, Diana Burns, Patty Burns and Dorothy (Reubin) Marselis all of Saginaw, MI; Geraldine Riley and Bernice Burns both of Chicago, IL; two brothers-in-law, Dan (Etta) Burns and Leon (Dorothy) Burns both of Saginaw, MI; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He also leaves to cherish his memory, the entire DVD In Ministry Church Family. A special thanks to the staff at Healthsource and the emergency staff at Covenant Healthcare - Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Reaner Watson; five sisters Celia Moody, Mary Portis, Abbie Lee Johnson, Eddie Moss and Louise; three brothers, John, Sam and Floyd Watson.
