James Sims Jr

Mr. James Sims Jr. was born November 21, 1930 to James Sims Sr. and Blondell Searcy in Marvell, Arkansas. He passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at his residence in Madison, Wisconsin.
Mr. Sims lived in Saginaw, Michigan many years. He was retired from General Motors Corporation. After retirement, Mr. Sims relocated first to Seattle Washington and then to Madison, Wisconsin. He was a member of Love Fellow Baptist Church in Romeoville, Illinois where he served as Deacon. His favorite books were The Holy Bible and Imitate Their Faith. His favorite Bible verses were Revelations 21:1-4 and Psalm 83:18. Mr. Sims was a very hard worker. He enjoyed spending time with family, bowling and shooting pool, going to the movies and traveling. His wonderful smile and presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, six daughters and six sons, Toni (Charles) Peterson, Angela (Michael) Winchester, Tiffany Johnson, Brenda Sims, Sue Sims, Sonya Turner, Charles (Melzina) Sims, Pernell Sims, Harry Dean (Dorothy) Sims, Wendell Johnson Jr., Larrice (Minnie L.) Sims, Larry Sims and Rhonda L. Johnson-Woods; one stepdaughter, Linda Patterson; grandchildren, Zeon (Crystal) Sims, Abryanna (Steven) Ward, Jalen (Megan) Peterson (Jalen is currently serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan), Sieanna Peterson, Shaneka Sims, Kayla Sims, Kalil Sims, Michael Winchester Jr., Gregory Jackson Jr., DeAndre Winchester of Takita Martin, Shakir Ali Sims Sr., Michael Sims-Cross and Christian Johnson-Woods; nine great-grandchildren, Kais, Jalen Jr. and Jayce Peterson, Uriel and Gabriel Sims, Anthony Lewis, Tracey, Delvin and Roosevelt Martin; three brothers, Grover, Herbert and Joel Sims; many other relatives and friends including extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his special friends, Ola Mae Johnson, Bro. Joe Baldwin, Bro. Lionel Green and Bro. Wardell Perkins.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents, James Sims Sr. and Blondell Searcy; wives, Odessa Sims, Mattye Mae Sims and Ruth Sims; sons, Larry Sims and James Sims III; stepchildren, Belford Williams and Gwendolyn Jelks; grandsons, Cory Nash and Antwan Jones-Sims; sisters, Annie, Beatrice and Elenora Sims; brother, Acie Sims, grandson, Zedrick Sims and his best friend, Isaac Christmas.
