Janet Gaines

Mrs. Janet Gaines departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Age 71 years. She was born May 31, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to Cleo Sullivan and Olivia McDaniel.

Janet was a homemaker who enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, fishing, cooking and shopping for herself and family. She never thought twice to lend a helping hand to someone. Janet would always brighten the room with her infectious smile, laughter and dance-moves. Her style and grace and words of wisdom would overshadow any illness or pain. She embarked our hearts with nothing but love and shielded those she loved from the dangers of the world with her everlasting protection. Her presence will be truly missed.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory one daughter, Larraine Lenoir; two sons, Michael and Raymond (Tarsha) Grissom; grandchildren, Michael and Marcus Wallace, Erica Romero, Andrew Zamora, Jasmine, DeJa and Alexis Lenoir, Mikyng Pritchett and Raeven Grissom; great-grandchildren, Jaden Goodman, Averyonna Wallace, Michael Wallace Jr., Maleek Wallace, Arrionna, Shayla and Shaniyah Wallace; one sister, Diane Turner; one brother, Leonard Sullivan; nieces and nephews, Bronvic Turner, Milik Turner, Artneil Smith, Ciare Turner, Travonna Turner, Tiana Turner and Detreveon Thomas; many other relatives and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Gaines, parents, Olivia McDaniel and Cleo Sullivan, step-father, Chester McDaniel, one sister, Roxanne Turner and two nephews, DeMarcus and Keyman Turner.
