With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jason Lamar Porterfield Jr., Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Saginaw, Michigan, a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and friend who left us too soon. Jason was born to Lakiesha Smith and Jason Porterfield Sr. in Saginaw, Michigan.
Jason’s early years were marked by a move to Dallas, Texas, where he attended Dallas ISD Public Schools, before returning to Saginaw, Michigan for his final year of school.
Jason's life was enriched by the love and support of his family, including his stepfather Dominique Alexander, and his godmother Tara Turner. He was a cherished grandson to Kathleen Smith, Henrenee Brown, Calvin White, Tommy Washington, and Andrecia Howard. Jason's vibrant spirit was a beacon of light for his siblings Amariona Smith, Samauri Mathes, Christian Mathes, Khonor Alexander, and Journey Alexander. He was a proud uncle to Daniel Darby.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Liddy Anderson, Minnie Smith, Vicki Campbell, and Elesenia Porterfield, and grandfathers, Cleveland Smith Sr, Ernest Williams, and Willie Williams. Jason's legacy will be carried on through his extensive family.
He leaves behind aunts Ashley, Tameka, Teira, Kenyona, Tavoyia, Katea, Gabrieal, Syiedta, Gwen, Wendi, Erica, Monica, and LaDonya; uncles Deontae, Terry, Michael, Deandre, Malik, D'Quavius, Alvin, Bryson, Quinton, and Anddropolis; and cousins Taeshawn, Keshun, Keon, Eric, Kevion, Sir Christian, Sir Jaylen, among many more.
Jason's journey through life was a testament to his resilience, kindness, and unwavering spirit. His ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him will be dearly missed but never forgotten. As we gather to remember Jason, we celebrate the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the indelible mark he leaves on our hearts.
As we say goodbye to Jason, we hold on to the memories and love he shared with each of us. His spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
