Jeffrey Bernard Hancock passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 31 years. He was born August 27, 1985 to Jeff and Mary Hancock in Lansing, Michigan.
Jeffrey lived in Eaton Rapids, Michigan and was a 2003 graduate of Eaton Rapids High School. He excelled in computer technology and enjoyed helping everyone with their computers. He loved to read. His favorite books was The Lord of the Ring series. Jeffrey had been attending Lansing Community College working towards a degree in Computer Science. He had excellent grades and hoped to eventually work in the computer field. Jeffrey was employed part-time at Subway in Eaton Rapids. He used to tell us he got a lot of tips from customers who loved the way he made their subs. He was dependable and a hard-working employee who always took pride in his work.
The best thing that ever happened to Jeffrey was when he became a Dad to Olivia Grace in May 2011. She meant the world to him! They had such a special relationship. She just lit up when she with him. Olivia loved her Daddy so much and he adored her! Jeffrey treasured being her Dad; he was so devoted to her-his little princess. The time they spent together was always full of fun, exploring new restaurants, going to movies, painting pottery, playing in the park, getting ice cream at Turtle Toms and going to Chuck E. Cheese. Very precious memories that I hope she never forgets.
Jeffrey leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful daughter, Olivia, Charlotte, Michigan; mother, Mary, Eaton Rapids; sister, Julee, Eaton Rapids; grandparents, Bernie and Pat Hartley, Eaton Rapids, Bernard and Virgline Hancock, Lansing, Michigan; nephew, Ryan, Eaton Rapids; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special people who knew Jeffrey best, loved his wry-witty sense of humor. One long-time friend is Steve Deroshia and his wife Rachel. Jeffrey met Steve in the fifth grade and they remained close friends throughout the years with them having children who are the same age. He was lucky to have Steve and Rachel in his life; true friendship is a gift that lasts a lifetime.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Jeff (2013); aunt, Patti Vogel (2015) and uncle, Chad Hancock (2004).
No words can express the deep sorrow felt and the total hopelessness of the situation. We can only hope and pray that Jeffrey is at peace now. A sincere Thank-you goes out to everyone who has been supportive during this devastating loss.
