Ms. Jennifer McDougal-Wright peacefully departed this life Friday, January 22, 2021, at 7:42 p.m. at home surrounded by her family. Age 59, years. She was born November 23, 1961, to Lee Thomas and Dorothy Mae McDougal in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. The family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1965 where she spent her early years. Jennifer was blessed with 2 children, Thomas and Dorothy. They later found a new home in Lansing, Michigan.

Jennifer accepted Christ at an early age and attended Christian Celebration Center Church under the pastorship of Pastor Terrence King in Lansing, Michigan.

Jennifer was educated in the Detroit School system and received her GED in Lansing, Michigan. She later earned a certification in Massage Therapy from Lansing Community College. She was most recently employed by Holy Cross Services and the Lansing School District where she held numerous positions.

As a child, Jennifer loved working with paper and later turned that passion into a gift of decorating and scrapbooking. She could be counted on to brighten events with her special touch and beautiful creations. Jennifer was the Michigan Wolverine’s number 1 fan. She was known to show her team spirit by proudly wearing maize and blue and collecting anything related to the University of Michigan. She had a joyful, fun-loving spirit that made people gravitate to her. Jennifer was charitable, often helping those in need. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with family and friends, laughing, listening to her blues, playing board games, and dominos.

Jennifer survived heart surgery in 2001 when her aortic valve was replaced with a mechanical valve. In 2015, she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Jennifer’s faith in God sustained her and inspired others. She was a strong and courageous warrior!

Jennifer was devoted to her family and loved them wholeheartedly. She was a caring and generous friend to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile and warm hugs will be greatly missed but she will forever remain in our hearts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Thomas (Tessa) McDougal and Dorothy Marie McDougal of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Kiersten Meriwether, Lexiana, Jaydin “Tato”, Jett and Janae McDougal; great-grandchildren, Navaeh, Nehemiah, Curtis, Jr., and Jakai; father, Lee Thomas (Emma) McDougal of Detroit, Michigan; siblings, Deborah Durant of Jacksonville, Alabama, Loria (Kenneth) Hall of Lansing, Michigan, Holister Studivant of Lansing, Michigan, Markes Studivan (Kandyce) of Detroit, Michigan; step-sisters, Tonya Reese of Brownstown, Michigan and Pamela Towns of Orlando, Florida; step-brother, Parnell Studivant of Detroit, Michigan; nieces, Sheena Stacker, Jackie Reese and Madison McDougal; nephews, Demond Wilds, Roderick Reese and Zion Studivant; Goddaughter, Porsha Gray-Ward; aunts, Earlene Pone and Mary McDougal; uncle, Connor McDougal; a large circle of cousins, many adopted children and grandchildren, other extended family members and many friends so special that she held them dear to heart including special friends, Dr. Carolyn Stone, Rachelle Franklin, Lori Arnold and Nanette “Nan” Norwood.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Mae McDougal, and grandson, Cainin McDougal.
