Jerry Angelo Mathis

Mr. Jerry Angelo Mathis was born on October 24, 1958 in Saginaw, Michigan to L.J. Martin and Inez Mathis. Jerry went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2019, at the age of 61.

Jerry attended Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan and graduated with the Class of 1977. He married Darnell Lewis on May 24, 2013, and they have resided in Houston, Texas for the past five years. He enjoyed all sports but the Los Angeles (Oakland) Raiders and University of Michigan Wolverines were his favorite football teams. Jerry also enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family, whom will miss him dearly.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, L. J. Martin and Inez Mathis; sister, Nedra Horn; granddaughter, Layilah Similton.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Darnell Lewis; one son, Jerry A. Mathis Jr.; two daughters, Brionica Anderson-Mathis, Alivia Mathis-Lewis; stepdaughters, Shakera (Marqueis) Hall, Aleah S. Lewis, Allysa J. Lewis; grandchildren, Jayden, Ja`Keyla, Ja`Nylah Mathis, Laveah Similton, Briell Similton, Stephen Myles Jr., Sean`Ya McDonald, Demarius, Jamaul, Jalani Trabue, Miraqle, Kashmere, and Marquis Hall; sisters, Betty Mathis, Annette (Jimmie) Mathis-Hall, Saginaw, Michigan, Rene (Perry) Mathis-Johnson, Shreveport, Louisiana; brother, Kenneth (Theresa) Mathis, Orlando, Florida; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
