Mr. Jesse Wayne Campbell passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan. Age 70 years. It was Friday, January 22, 1954, a cold winter day in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Jesse graced this earth with his presence. The third child, the second son of proud parents, John and Sadie Campbell.
In 1954, with his parents, older sister, Patricia, and brother, Johnny, his family moved to Lansing, Michigan. Jesse was less than six months old. Jesse attended schools in the Lansing School District: Main Street Elementary School, West Junior High School, and J. W. Sexton High School. He was in the ninth grade when he got his first job at the Lansing Public Library, now known as Capitol Area District Library. He worked about 3 hours a day. Jesse used the income he earned from this job to purchase his first car, a 1965 Chevrolet Caprice, dark blue with a drop top. When Jesse graduated in 1972 from Sexton High School, he was employed by General Motors Corporation, Oldsmobile Division and retired in 2006.
Jesse was an active member at New Jerusalem Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Charles E. Bicy. He was an active member of the church as an usher and was ordained as a Deacon on Sunday, September 9, 2012, by Pastor Bicy. Jesse married his loving wife, Malinda, in 2006. His hobbies were playing pool, billiards, bowling, photography, bike riding, and dogs. Jesse loved his family and spending time with them, especially joking around with family and friends. His other interests include lottery, music, and barbecuing for family and friends. His demeanor was very friendly and laid back, always had a big smile on his face.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Malinda Beauchamp-Campbell; stepchildren, Melissa Brown and Lionel Beauchamp, Jr.; grandchildren, Kyle Beauchamp, Clarissa Dean, Elexus Beauchamp, Ashlyn Beauchamp, Jesse Dean, Lionel Beauchamp, Jr., Nkosi Bufford, and Amara Beauchamp; sisters, Patricia Campbell and Nicolette Campbell; niece, Joyce Curtis; nephews, Christopher Campbell, Sr. and Shamar Campbell; aunt, Atha M. Campbell; many cousins, 9 sisters-in-law, 6 brothers-in-law, many other relatives and friends including special friend, Calvin Burton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sadie Campbell and brother, Johnny Campbell.
