Jessica (Fluker) Smith

Mrs. Jessica Lynn Smith was born May 8, 1986 in West Branch, Michigan, the daughter of Sandra Walter and Lamont Rutledge. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Jacksonville, North Carolina at the age of 33 years.

Jessica was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, “Class of 2004.” She then pursued a career in healthcare and became a certified CAN and home caregiver. She was a natural at caring for others, always showing compassion and love towards those in her care.

Jessica was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hemlock, Michigan. After the death of her husband, Jerry Earl Smith in 2015, Jessica relocated to Midway Park in Jacksonville, North Carolina, where she resided until her passing. She was loved everywhere she went because of her big heart, colorful personality and beautiful spirit. Her mouth could be slick if provoked but she was mostly outgoing and loving and would give you the shirt off her back.

Jessica loved butterflies. She loved the journey of the caterpillar to butterfly. She loved the symbolism behind the butterfly. Her spirit is free, she is now at rest and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jessica was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Earl Smith; grandmother, Joann Fluker; brother, Terrance Parham.

She leaves to cherish precious memories one daughter, JoeHanna Mae Daison; four sons, Troy Randolph Daison II, Jerrvarious D. Smith, Jerry Earl Smith, Jr., Jae-lyn J. Smith; stepson, Terrance Jerome Daison; mother, Sandra (Randall) Walter; father, Lamont Rutledge; grandparents, Minister Terry & Afrieka Rutledge, Leo and Florence Hale, Geneva Roberson; sisters, Trina Parham, NaTasha Kelly, Vanessa Lumsden; brother, Deterryion Parham; special nephew, Devion Johnson; aunts, Tina Fluker, Bonnie Fluker, Charlene Szagesh, Tatonous Roberson, Alfreda Ducre; uncles, Michael, Houston, Gevon, Corwin, Darryl Roberson; cousins, Vanessa Roberson, Dennis Fluker, Coylee Fluker, Mary Jo; mother and father-in-law, Cynthia (Eon) Daison, Michelle Smith, Jerry Bass; sister-in-law, Nyeisha Smith; brother-in-law, Antoine Henderson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Brandon Goff, David Weatherspoon, Etsuko Brown and ex-husband Troy Randolph Daison.
