Jessie Spears (Lansing)

Jessie Ivory Spears was born on Sunday, January 29, 1956, in Pontiac, Michigan to parents, Annie B. Warren and J.I. Spears. He passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of 69 years. 

Jessie was a resident of Lansing, Michigan and a member of Rivers of Life Church, in Holt, Michigan. He worked for General Motors, the YMCA, and retired from Michigan State University. 

One of Jessie’s passions was working on cars and just fixing things needing repair. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or to be a “listening ear” to anyone who was in need.

Jessie leaves to cherish his memory his children, Alexis Spears, Alecea Spears, Charity Murphy and Jerry Spears; stepchildren, Joshua James, Tiffany Jackson, Tawana Simmons of Lansing, and Jeffrey Jackson of Pontiac; grandchildren, Nia Smith of Lansing, Jakayla Vinson of Lansing, Jalen Jackson of Detroit, Nebrianna Maybin of Lansing, Shaun Moore of Louisiana, Jarobe Murph, Jason Murph, Jr., Janine Murph, Jani Murph, Keyana, JyAire Jackson, Khyre Moore of Louisiana, and Journee James; brothers, Stanley and Michael Spears; sisters, Jacqueline and Antoinette; and special friend Helina Parker.

Jessie was preceded in death by, spouse, JoAnn Spears; parents, J. I. Spears and Annie B. Warren; sister, Patricia Ann; and brothers, Floyd and Kenneth Spears.
