Jim Jiles

June 13, 1943 — May 23, 2020

Jim Arthur Jiles, “Jaybo”, made his entrance on earth June 13, 1943 in Troy, Alabama to the union of O. Lee and Novella Jiles. God, in His infinite wisdom, gave Jim his wings on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family.

Jim was led to Christ by Pastor Johnny Jackson in 1982 in the home of Brother and Sister William Jones. He became a member of Candle Light Baptist Church in Saginaw, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Jimmie L. Simington, where he was an ordained Deacon and a member of the Male Chorus.

Jim attended Alice White Elementary and Dunbar High School in Troy, Alabama. He moved to Michigan in 1962 and was employed at Texaco Gas Station. In 1966, Jim was hired at General Motors Parts Plant in Bay City, where he retired in 1998. His hobbies included restoring and working on cars, playing baseball, fishing, going to old car shows, and playing with his grand and great-grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed hanging out at The Garage, aka “The Beachfront”, telling jokes and keeping folks laughing. He was known as the ultimate jokester and storyteller.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, O. Lee and Novella Jiles; sister, Betty Anderson; brother, Ira Jiles; two grandchildren, Jaida M. and Lorenzo D. Jiles.

He leaves to miss his jokes and storytelling and cherish his memory, his loving wife of 48 years, Helen M. Dyson- Jiles; four sons, Jimmy A. (Stacy) Jiles, Anthony W. Jiles, Patrick D. Dyson, and Cottrell D. (Sirberina) Jiles; two daughters, Alisha N. (Tony) Morgan and Anitra L. (Avery) Frazier; grandchildren, LaKesha, Zachary, Alyx-Zander, Justyce , Marviana, Alexis, Tahlor, Anya, Tristan and Taryn; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Jasmyn, Jayce, Kira, Zaiden, Londyn, Taylor, Heaven, Lorenzo, Alyx-Zander Jr., and Nathan; sister, Willie Mae Cook; brothers, Levi B., James (Shirley) Jiles; many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends including close relative Arthur Berry “Booley” and best friend, Mark Wilson “Moochie”.
