Jimmie Ballard (Lansing)

Mr. Jimmie Ray Ballard passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 64 years. He was born June 2, 1956 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Jimmie and Sue Ballard.

Jimmie graduated from Flint Community Schools. He began working for General Motors Corporation at an early age, and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Jimmie’s passion was music. He was a self taught musician who played the guitar and keyboard. He also loved movies and could tell you the plot of many. One of his favorite pastimes was seeing the newest movie in theater with his brother JD or his children. Most of all, Jimmie was a man of humor who loved to laugh and spread laughter and joy to others.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Janet Kelly-Ballard; one daughter, LaRisa (Tevin) Alston; two sons, Jimmie (Ebony) Ballard, Jr. of Pueblo, Colorado, Jason Scales of Flint, Michigan; one step-son, Nathan Kelly; seven grandchildren, KeShawn, Jimmie III, and Jayla Ballard of Pueblo, Colorado, Diamond, Takeyia, Robie, and Jason Jr. Scales of Flint, Michigan; two brothers, Jesse Ballard of Flint, Michigan, Joel Ballard of Texas; one niece, Iris Clemens-Ballard of Texas; one nephew, Jesse Ballard II of Flint, Michigan; one aunt, Alberta (Rev. Simuel) Flagg of California; four uncles, Thomas Perry of Detroit, Michigan, Elder Eddie (Laura) Perry of Tennessee, O.T. (Sallie) Perry of Mt. Morris, Michigan, and Pete Ballard of Tennessee; two sister-in-laws, Cheryl Wicker of Flint, Michigan, and Lisa Kelly; two brother-in-laws, Michael Kelly of Minnesota, and Daniel Gillespie of Colorado; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Pete and Ophelia Ballard, Rev. James and Bertha Perry; four aunts, two uncles, one nephew; parent-in-laws, two sister-in-laws, and two brother-in-laws.
