Jimmie Franks

Brother Jimmie Franks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare. Age 90 years. He was born January 16, 1923 in Aberdeen, Mississippi to Dee and Margaret Franks.
Jimmie accepted Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of Bethesda Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Johnson where he served on the Usher Board, Deacon Board, Gospel Choir and the Trustee Department. He was a faithful member of the King James Order #109. Jimmie served 3 years in the United States Army from August 1942 until November 1945, receiving an honorable discharge. He married Minnie Mae Jones in 1947. She survives him. He relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1953 where he became a dedicated worker at General Motors until his retirement. Jimmie loved to travel, boating, baseball and fishing. He especially loved to attend his children games. His presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Minnie Mae Franks; three daughters, Jimmie Nell Franks, Rebecca Lynch and Christine Franks, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; godchildren he raised as his own, Margaret Parks, Yvonne Youngblood and Anton Parks, all of Saginaw, Michigan; twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; seven godchildren; one sister, Emma Moore of Pontiac, Michigan; four sisters-in-law, Sadie Mae (Parker) Simpson of St. Louis, Missouri, Alice (Jimmie) Holliday and Sarah (Wilbert) Dobson, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Joyce Ann Jones of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers-in-law, John B. (Helene) of Beloit, Wisconsin, Lilton (Lizzie) Jones of Chicago, Illinois, Curley Howard Jr. of Aberdeen, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews that loved and respected him including a special niece, Peggie Hall; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Wilbert Dobson and Parker Simpson.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Margaret Franks, sisters, Agnes McArn and Nan Sue Shaw.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Pastor Gregory Johnson, the Bethesda Baptist Church family and the King James Lodge #109.
