Jimmie Holmes-Smith 'Ruthie'

Our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Mrs. Jimmie Holmes-Smith, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday August 14, 2015 following a sudden illness. Ruthie, as she was affectionately called, was born on August 1, 1952 in Louisville, Mississippi to Jimmie T. Holmes and Martha (Triplett) Holmes.
Jimmie was a graduate of Saginaw High School class of 1970. She was currently employed with Advanced Security Service prior to K-Mart Corporation and Qualified Staffing Service, and had been a care giver for her father for the past 5 years. Throughout Jimmies life she had always been an avid reader. She enjoyed fiction novels, mysteries, science fiction and watching movies. She loved fishing, especially with her special cousin, Reggie Holmes. Jimmies Christian walk began as a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church but recently experienced comforting and compassionate love at Jacobs Ladder Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Dempsey Allen.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Darius Holmes of Desoto, Texas, Nichole Holmes of Saginaw, Michigan and Ebonee Holmes of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, Shunique, William, Nevaeh, DaQuavious, Devitri, Destynee, Makeia, Dianca, and Daresha; one great-grandson, DaQuavious Jr.; her father, Jimmie T. Holmes; one sister, Dorothy Redeemer; one brother, Paul Holmes of Detroit, Michigan; two aunts, Bessie Coleman and Hazel Kirk of Louisville, Mississippi; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Smith; two brothers-in-law, Willie Kern Smith of Saginaw, Michigan and Lemuel Smith of Arlington, Texas; three nieces, Teesha Redeemer and Melisa Freeman of St. Louis, Missouri and Adesola Holmes of Detroit, Michigan; one nephew, Kedrick Redeemer of Semi Valley, California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including a special family cousin, Rosemary Sanders, and her church family at Jacobs Ladder Ministries.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Smith, her mother, Martha Holmes, two brothers, Jim Henry and Billie Ray Holmes, and grandson, Darius Holmes, Jr "DJ".
