On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the angels transcended from Heaven to carry Mr. Jimmie Lee "Buddy Boy" Turner, Sr. home to Glory. Age 99 years. He was born April 12, 1922 in Panola, Alabama to Jim and Laura Newton Turner.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, he and his family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan in 1950. He became a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor R. B. Austin. Thirty-three years later, he and his wife traveled back to Panola, Alabama where he reunited with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He and his wife returned to Saginaw in 2003 and he united with Messiah Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and watching baseball. His presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Cleodis (Johnnie) Blair Sr., Mary McGowan, Jimmie Lee Turner, Jr., Odessa (Don) Steward, and Larry Turner; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; one special niece, Laura Quarles; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jimmie Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Lee; three sons,Theodis, Nathaniel, and Donald Ray; one grandson, Damien Steward; one granddaughter, Chante Little; his parents, Jim and Laura Newton Turner; five sisters; one brother; daughter-in-law, Willie Kate Turner; and son-in-law, Gus McGowan, Sr.
