Jimmy Norris (Lansing)

Mr. Jimmy Lee Norris passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan. Age 75 years. He was born on Wednesday, September 1, 1948, in Ocelola, Arkansas, to A.W. and Elnora Norris. Jimmy was one of eleven children.

Jimmy received his early education in the public schools in Luxora, Arkansas. After his schooling, he moved to Lansing, Michigan and worked for many years doing construction and large vehicle transporting. He loved the Lord and was a long time member of Lansing Christian Center. Jimmy loved to entertain with friends and family hosting a good barbeque, playing cards, and dominoes. Jimmy also loved listening to good music and all western movies.

Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory his children, Mark Alexander and Kim (Jermaine) Smith; grandchildren, Michael Franklin, Mahkari Franklin, and Daymia Morrell; bonus granddaughter, J'miya Smith; great-grandchildren, Cardell Jr., Aniyah, Kimberlee, Ma’Kiah, Mister, Dashaun, Jr. and George, Jr.; sisters, Rosetta (Smokey) Ishmel, Leora “Pollie” Davenport, and Loretta (Burrell) McGee; brother-in-law, Robert Perteet; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruby Mae Norris; son, Jimmy K. Norris; parents, A.W. and Elnora Norris; brothers, Arthur A.W. “Jr.”, Johnny “JohnLee” Norris, George E. Norris, Henry Norris, and Ricky Norris; sisters, Willie Mae (L.C. Sonny) King, Rosie Perteet and brother-in-law, Pastor Howard Davenport.
