Jimmie Lee Holliday III

January 14, 1942 — September 7, 2024

Saginaw

Jimmie Lee Holliday, III, age 82, of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024. Born on January 14, 1942, in Aberdeen, Mississippi, to Jimmie Lee Holliday II and Lillie Mae (McMillan) Holliday, he was the sixth of eleven children. Jimmie was a cherished husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

Jimmie moved from Mississippi to Minneapolis, Minnesota in search of a better life. He and his wife, Alice, moved to Saginaw, MI after he was hired by General Motors. Jimmie was a dedicated member of the UAW-Local 668 Union and had a career which lasted 38 years at General Motors. He was known for his strong work ethic, unwavering integrity, and the genuine care he showed to his coworkers.

Outside of work, Jimmie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time watching his sports and loving his newest Cadillac. Jimmie, affectionately known as “Doc,” was an amazing baseball player. He was best known for his outstanding pitching skills. Jimmie "Doc" Holliday was a bundle of life and fun. He kept us laughing at the great (and sometimes not-so-great) jokes he shared. He truly enjoyed people, and people enjoyed him.

Jimmie is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Alice Holliday; they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on November 2, 2024; his children: Jimmie Holliday, IV of Saginaw, MI; Corey (Londa) Holliday of Charlotte, NC, and Renee Holliday of Ypsilanti, MI. His beloved grandchildren: Dante (Katina) Shelton of Little Rock, AR, Jasmine (James) King of Saginaw, MI; Kiara Hamilton of Saginaw, MI, Jimmie Jayvion Davis of San Antonio, TX: Corey Jr. and Marcus Holliday of Charlotte, NC, Serita Chyna Newvine of Saginaw, MI, Javarie, Jalen and Jayden Holliday of Saginaw, MI. His great-grandchildren; Celas, Jordyn, Naomi, Cayden, Jazelle, Jimmie, James III, Bailee, Janelle, Jay’Onna and Jamir; sister, Essie B. Tift of Chicago, IL, and brother, Robert Lee Holliday, of Chicago, IL; a host of nieces and nephews that were all very, very special to him. Two very special brothers-in-law: Curley Howard, Jr. of Aberdeen, MS, and Wilbert Glenn Dobson, Sr. of Saginaw, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Lillie Mae Holliday; his eldest son, Terence L. Holliday; his grandchildren, Terrence Jovonn Holliday and Terence Holliday; his siblings, Henry Lee (Reign), Thelma Lee (Earnest), Elizabeth (John Henry), Oplean, Odessa (Gene), Willie May (Harvey), Tommy Lee (Betty), and Clifton Lee.

Scripture: John 14:3- And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. Rest in peace “Jimmie Holliday, lll;” you were loved beyond measure and will be remembered with warmth and affection.
