Ms. Joan Ann Russell-Page passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Great Lakes Rehab Center. Age 67 years. She was born on February 27, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Herman Russell and Freddie B. (Washington) Russell.

Joan was raised in Tutwiler, Mississippi from the age of five months by Jessie and Susie Bush, along with loving aunt Susie Mae Washington, Juanita Coleman and Vera Lee Calhoun. Joan went to live in Chicago briefly with her parents before returning to Mississippi. She attended Hopson Bayou Elementary School and West District High School. Joan worked picking cotton, cleaning houses and later as a nurse’s aide. She always loved dressing up and looking good, no matter what. Joan was known by many for her cooking, especially fried chicken. She had a passion for other people, making sure they had what they needed without them having to ask. Joan believed in education, forgiveness and above all, God.

Joan Ann Russell-Page leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Carlean (Anthony) Brown, Saginaw, Michigan, Yolanda Russell, Columbus, Ohio; one son, Alex David Wesby, Saginaw, Michigan ; twenty-one step-children; thirteen grandchildren, Nicosia Russell, James D. Akins, Randall N. Robinson, Anthony D. Akins, Devin M. Brown, Alex D. Harris, Vondel L. Wesby, Dominique Oliver, Tarshionna S. Gilbert, Dontarris M. Wesby, Da’Hailey Wesby, Da’Nia Joan A. Wesby; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Ann Russell, Sunday Russell; three nieces, Michelle, Megan and Chanda Russell; six nephews, Tony, Larry, Marc Carlton and Michael Russell, Jr., DeElvin Marquell Steward and Ranjit Gaines; one loving and favorite aunt, Susie Mae Washington; one uncle, Percy Russell; cousins, Patricia Ann Washington “Bae”, James, Jerry, Oradean, Wanda, Shirley, Lewis Dennis and Victor Washington; sister-in-law, Almetta Russell; most favorite son-in-law, Anthony Brown; many other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, James Page; parents, Herman Russell and Freddie B. (Washington) Russell; special parents who raised her, Jessie and Susie Bush; daughter, Linda Russell; granddaughter, Crystal Ann Russell; grandson, Tyron M. Wesby; grandfather, James Washington; brother, Minister Michael Russell; aunts, Willa Mae Jennings, Juanita Coleman and Alice Tate;
