Ms. JoAnn Jackson-Spears passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at her residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 60 years. She was born June 20, 1958 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Samuel and Rosie Lee Jackson.
JoAnn moved to Lansing, Michigan from Blytheville, Arkansas. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Paul Garrett. JoAnn later in life became a member of Rivers of Life Church. She had an associate degree in human resources. JoAnn was employed at Michigan State University for several years. She enjoyed various hobbies including playing cards, spending time with her family, cooking, baking, crocheting, fishing and keeping a smile on everyone that was around her. She also loved her dog, Kandi.
She leaves to cherish her memory husband, Jessie Spears; four children, Tiffany Jackson, Joshua James, Alexis Spears and Alecea Spears; step-daughter, Charity (Jason) Murph; grandchildren, Shaun Moore, Shreveport, Louisana, Nebrianna Maybin, JaKayla Vinson and Jalen Jackson, both of Pontiac, Michigan; step-grandchildren, Jarobe, Jason, Jr. and Janine Murph; great-grandchildren, Khyre Moore and Journéé Rose James; three sisters, Krystal (Ulyssess) Moore, Rosie (Archie) Griffith and Annette McFarland; brother, Curtis (Veonia) Jackson; Goddaughter, Tawana Simmons and God-grandsons, TyQueyse Simmons and Jonathon Sharp, Jr.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, and a special closeness with nieces; Wendy Miller and Gwendolyn Howard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Oliver, Frank Hunt, Jr., Margaret Rowe and Grady Hunt.
