Joanna Marie Cain (Lansing)

Mrs. Joanna Marie Cain passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. Age 38 years. On March 21,1985 a beautiful bouncing baby was born to David Paul Skief and JoAnne Beam in Lansing, Michigan.

Joanna attended Lansing Public Schools and graduated from Albion Senior High School in Albion, MI. where she was a phenomenal basketball player that was known for her smooth skills. She continued her education earning a 4.0 GPA at an esteemed Medical School in Dallas, Texas.

Joanna was an avid sports lover and enjoyed many Sunday evenings watching football with family and friends. Her favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.

Joanna met and married Robert Earl Cain, Jr. on December 8, 2009, and to this union 4 beautiful children were born: Alexianna, Alaja ”LayLay”, Robert III, and Josiah David Cain.

Joanna had a special gift for nurturing not only her children but was a wonderful caregiver for hospital and in-home patients. She recently was employed as a licensed Medical Assistant at Lansing Pediatrics Associates, working within the Pediatrics Department.

Joanna was an excellent cook and extraordinary baker, who bragged about how good and tasty her food was at ALL family functions! 😊

Joanna loved to travel with her road dog, youngest daughter, LayLay, where they would travel all over the United States.

Joanna’s greatest accomplishment was when she gave her life to Christ at an early age, where she was baptized in North Carolina and recently re-baptized on August 21, 2022, by Pastor Larry M. Trice, Jr. in the presence of God and her Tabernacle of David family, whom she loved dearly. You could easily find Joanna on Sunday mornings worshipping and praising God and testifying of his goodness everywhere she went.

Joanna loved spending time with her family and children. Her greatest joy is when she became a GLAMMA to twin granddaughters, Sy’Anna and Sy’Rae, who were the apple of her eyes! One thing she did NOT PLAY about was her children and grandchildren!

Joanna leaves to cherish her memory, mother, JoAnne Beam; husband, Robert Earl Cain, Jr.; children, Alexianna, Alaja, Robert III, and Josiah David Cain all of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Sy’Anna and Sy’Rae Young; sisters, Samika Beam, Destanie Haughton, Mariah Haughton, and Angel Johnson all of Lansing, Michigan; brothers, Shondell Beam and Tommie Lee Johnson both of Lansing, Michigan; stepmother, Michelle Haughton; grandfather, Richard Gillespie; grandmother, Glynda Skief, both of Dallas, Texas; special uncle and aunt, David and Laurie Scott of Lansing, Michigan; godson, Romeo “Romie” Patterson of Lansing, Michigan; special cousin, Shaneen Gaston; special friend, Rolana Beard; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives (North Carolina) and friends.

Joanna was preceded in death by father, David Paul Skief, brother; Marcell O’Henry Beam; paternal grandparents, Ms. Mable Hill and Ms. Wilma Washington.
