Jocelyn Michele Newsome-Gordon passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana age 66 years. Jocelyn Michele Newsome was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on April 14, 1956, to Lillie B. Eskridge and Ishmael North who preceded her in death.
Michele was educated in Saginaw Public School District and was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1974. She also attended Ferris State University. Michele was a dedicated employee of the Saginaw United States Postal Service and retired after 35 years of service.
Prior to moving to Elkhart, Indiana, she was a faithful member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for approximately forty years, where she served faithfully as a committed member. Michele enjoyed traveling, roller skating, spending precious time with her family, and eating good food. One of her favorites was taco night as she and her family gathered together to laugh and enjoy one another. Michele always looked forward to celebrating her class reunions with all her cousins and friends who were proud Trojans of the SHS Class of 1974.
Michele leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Andrew Mack; one daughter, Atosha Latrice Newsome; four bonus children, David Edward Greenfield of Saginaw Michigan, Jeremy, Shazzar, and Quentin Mack, all of Elkhart, Indiana; two sisters, Jennifer (Versie) Reynolds, Alisha (Billy) Delouth, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren, DeMarrio Newsome whom she called son, Tomyah Newsome whom she called daughter, Serenity Reynolds and Jasmine Newsome; three great-grandchildren, DeVarrio Evans, Jveyah Newsome, and Novah Anderson; one nephew, Travhon Wright; one godson, Toriano Tucker; two special aunts, Lela Johnson, McDonough, Georgia, Barbara Abraham, Grand Rapids, Michigan; special cousins, Barbara Lynn Williams, Inez Williams, Carmen Denise Witherspoon, and Eddie El-Amin; special friends, Alvin Tyler, Joy Tucker, Warren Tyler, Debra Champion, Robbie Glanton, and Vanette Hardy; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Michele was preceded in death by one brother, Ben Newsome Jr. “Puddin;” twin grandchildren, Timmy and Tyra Newsome; her grandmother, Jettie Eskridge; uncle, John W. Jones; special cousin, Sharon Bullock; and great-grandparents, Buck and Martha Kelley.
